Short trip down the A5 for local derby in Dyffryn Ogwen
On Saturday 18 January, we make the short trip down the A5 to face Bethesda Athletic in a Gwynedd League match that kicks off at 2pm. Following last week's 7-0 win at home to Ogwen Tigers, it will be our second consecutive game against a team from the Dyffryn Ogwen village.
Back on 15 October, we enjoyed a 14-0 victory against Bethesda in a Gwynedd League match at Treborth in which Dylan Summers-Jones scored a hat-trick and Jamie Petrie managed five goals. However, Bethesda started 2020 with an 8-0 win at home to Llanerchymedd that was followed by a narrow 2-1 loss away to Bro Goronwy. They are in fourteenth position in the Gwynedd League, but only a point behind Glantraeth and have games in hand over several teams above them in the table.
Bethesda have also been active since the opening of the transfer window. Robbie Jones has taken over as manager, and his assistant Chester Lloyd is also a member of the playing staff. The new arrivals at Parc Meurig include full-backs Dan Richards and Craig Jeffreys, who both made the short journey from Ogwen Tigers. They have been joined by Ally Issa from Arriva Bangor, Liam Bibby from Holyhead Town and Bradley Pickavance from Pentraeth.
We go into this game yet to concede a goal since the start of the year, having scored fifteen goals without reply in wins against Glantraeth, Waunfawr and Ogwen Tigers. New signing Sion Parry is our top scorer so far this month with five goals, one more than Dylan Summers-Jones. Let's get behind our team this Saturday in what is sure to be an exciting game.
