1876 lose at Prestatyn

Bangor were the first to apply pressure early on but fell behind after five minutes following a defensive mix-up that allowed Luke Wiltshire to roll the ball into the net from ten yards.

There was a swift response from Bangor and home keeper Robbie Williams had to show sharp reactions to tip a header from Dale Davies over the bar. Corrig McGonigle then attempted an acrobatic effort from the edge of the box but Williams again saved.

After 20 minutes, however Bangor managed to draw level. Cai Powell-Roberts played a short pass inside to Tom Mahoney on the right wing before the midfielder dribbled into the box. Mahoney found the net for the second game in a row with a similar effort to his goal against Mold on Tuesday.

After 36 minutes, Prestatyn had the chance to regain the advantage from the penalty spot after Joe Culshaw handled the ball in the box following a corner. Carl Jones got a hand to Zebb Edwards' powerful shot from 12 yards but couldn't keep it out.

Two minutes before the interval, Mason Blackwell-Jones dribbled into the left side of the Prestatyn penalty area to create a shooting position but couldn't get sufficient power on his shot to trouble Williams.

HALF-TIME: PRESTATYN TOWN 2-1 BANGOR 1876

Inside the first ten minutes of the second half Bangor had a chance from an unexpected source after Prestatyn goalkeeper Robbie Williams picked up a pass back. From the indirect free-kick inside the box, the ball was played to Corrig McGonigle but his effort was blocked before Tom Clarke sent the rebound over the bar.

Shortly afterwards, it was Prestatyn’s turn to threaten. The ball was played across the face of goal from the right but the onrushing Prestatyn attacker at the back post Luke Wiltshire was unable to turn the ball in. However, the referee ruled that Joyce had been taken out by a dangerous challenge by Carl Jones. He sent off the Bangor keeper and awarded Prestatyn a penalty.

After a long delay as Wiltshire was stretchered off, Bradley Farrar was brought on for his Bangor debut in the place of Corrig McGonigle. Farrar's first involvement saw him dive low to his right to save Zebb Edwards' second penalty kick of the evening.

With just over a quarter of an hour left, the third penalty of the evening was awarded. Cai Parry-Roberts played the ball across the goalmouth and Harry Galeotti seemed set to score before he was fouled by a Prestatyn defender. The referee awarded the spot kick and yellow carded the offender. Liam Morris sent in a powerful left-footed effort that hit the underside of the bar and rebounded to safety.

Prestatyn had a chance to extend their advantage when Macauley Taylor broke into the box but he sent his shot over the bar. Substitute Ollie Buckley fired in a powerful low shot from outside the box moments later but pulled his effort wide of the target.

With six minutes left, Prestatyn did manage to increase their lead. One of their attackers rounded Bradley Farrar before sending the ball goalwards from a tight angle. It rebounded off the inside of the post, but Alfie Vaughan arrived to turn in the rebound from close range.

Cai Powell-Roberts sought to reduce the deficit but his shot from just outside the box was turned round the post by Robbie Williams. Tom Clarke then headed narrowly wide after Mason Blackwell-Jones crossed from the right.

Five minutes into injury time, Bangor came close to getting back into the game. Substitute James Barry swung in a corner from the right that rebounded off the far post.

Deep into injury time, Prestatyn extended their advantage when substitute Ollie Buckley turned sharply on the edge of the box and found the bottom corner with a well-placed shot.

Even further into injury time, Liam Morris came close with a shot on the turn but he sent the ball over the bar. It was not to be Bangor's evening as they slipped to their first league defeat of the season.
