This Friday (29 September), we welcome Gresford Athletic to Nantporth for a home league match that kicks off at 7.30pm. Before the match we will be making a presentation to Sion Edwards to mark his recent retirement and would encourage fans to turn up to show their gratitude to him for his distinguished career.
Within the last fortnight, Gresford have won four matches in four different competitions. Last Friday, they enjoyed a 4-1 win at home to Llanidloes Town in the league. Their scores were Haci Ozlu, Dominic Deacon, and Charley Edge. This success came only three days after a goal just before half-time by Ozlu was enough to secure a 1-0 win away to Buckley Town in the Third Round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
In the Welsh Cup on 16 September, Gresford won 4-0 away to Radnor Valley FC in a tie where their scorers were James Smith (2), Toby Gallagher-Keenan and Haci Ozlu. Their current winning run began with a 10-0 victory at home to Llangollen Town in the NEWFA Mens’ Senior Challenge Cup on 13 September. Substitute Samuel Spridgeon scored three times, and was joined on the scoresheet by Nathan Williams (2), Dominic Deacon, Charley Edge, Toby Gallagher-Keenan, Alex Buxton, and Robert Reynolds.
An exciting game should be in store on Friday night under the floodlights, so do please try to make it along if you can.
We will again be in league action on Friday 6 October when we host league leaders Holywell Town at Nantporth in a game that kicks off at 7.30pm.
