On Friday 28 April (7.45pm), we welcome Nantlle Vale to Treborth for our second last home league game of the season.
The visitors come into the game on the back of an impressive run of form, having won four games in a row and all of them away from home. After losing 2-1 at home to Rhyl on the first day of April, they have shown highly impressive form on their travels.
On 8 April, Nantlle won 3-2 away to Llay Welfare thanks to a hat-trick from Ashley Owen. The following weekend they achieved a 2-1 victory at Brickfield in a game where their scorers were Alwyn Roberts and Sion Jones.
On Wednesday of last week, a single goal from Cai Morgan was enough for Vale to beat Llandudno Albion in a match played at Y Morfa in Conwy. Three days later, they won 4-3 away to Rhyl in a highly exciting game where they twice trailed to the hosts at Belle Vue. Richard Jones and Math Jones found the net to ensure it was 2-2 at half-time, and a late double from Jamie Jones put Vale 4-2 ahead before the hosts halved the deficit deep into injury time.
There was also plenty of action and excitement when we travelled to play Nantlle Vale in the league back in November when we won 4-3 at Maes Dulyn in front of over 500 fans. Jamie Jones opened the scoring for the hosts before two goals from Corrig McGonigle and one from Sion Edwards gave us a 3-1 lead at the interval. Clive Williams got a goal back for the hosts in the second half before Gethin Thomas made it 4-2. In injury time, Richard Jones scored for the hosts to ensure a nervous finish for the travelling 1876 fans.
At this Saturday’s match, we will once again be holding a collection for the Bangor Cathedral Food Bank and will be delighted to receive donations to this cause which has been tremendously well supported by fans at Treborth this season.
We will also be selling a wide range of Bangor 1876 merchandise, including more copies of Simon Leeson’s book chronicling our 2021-22 season. Refreshments will be available in the clubhouse, including beers, soft drinks, as well as teas and coffees.
After Friday evening’s match, the next chance to see us in action will be on Saturday 6 May when we play Hawarden Rangers in a game that kicks off at 2.30pm. Please come along to support the team if you can at this crucial time of the season.
