Bangor 1876 fell at the fourteenth hurdle as their winning start to the season ended at Gwydir Park on Saturday, with Llanrwst United sealing their place in Monday's FAW Trophy Fourth Round Draw.
Welsh Alliance Division One hosts Llanrwst started as favourites, but Bangor 1876 had already eliminated three teams from higher up the league rankings in cup competition so far this season.
The Rwsters broke the deadlock just before the interval through Matthew Mullender and headed into the break with a slender 1-0 advantage.
However, further goals for Llanrwst from Sam Roberts just after the hour and an own goal ten minutes later, put the home side firmly in the driving seat.
Substitute Benn Lundstram popped up with a consolation goal for Bangor 1876 with a minute left on the clock only for Llanrwst's Callum Parry to add a fourth for the home side immediately from the restart.
So, a first competitive defeat and an end to hopes of an FAW Trophy run for Bangor 1876, but the third-tier hosts were fully deserving of their victory. Bangor 1876's attention now turns to another cup competition as Ruthin Town FC visit Treborth for Saturday's JD Welsh Cup Round Two tie.
