The Club is pleased to welcome Ifan Thomas as our new Head of Youth. He succeeds Ben Ogilvy, who has left the club after making a significant contribution in the time he was with us for which we are grateful.

Ifan joins us from the Bala Academy and is well known in Bangor footballing circles, having been involved with successful age group teams when the area had an approved academy. He has been head coach of the Gwynedd schools county under 13 team, which he founded, since 2018.

Ifan graduated in Sports Science from Bangor University and is studying for a Masters in Advanced Performance Football Coaching from the University of South Wales. He gained his UEFA B coaching licence in 2018 and has several qualifications relating to talent identification and football analysis.

Ifan is well known as a forward-thinking and innovative coach and has worked closely with our Club Manager, Mel Jones. He shares the Club’s philosophy of providing tailored coaching in order to develop players to enable them to follow the pathway to competitive football at senior level.

Ifan is looking forward to the challenge and said “I’m looking forward to returning to Bangor, where I had 4 special years with the academy under the leadership of Mel Jones. I hope to be able to prepare a structure and provide leadership for 1876’s younger teams and to offer local youngsters opportunities to play football and to receive coaching of a high standard."

He also has a message for young footballers in the local area:
"Before long we will be running open sessions with a view to recruiting players, concentrating on the younger age groups.
