Ogwen Tigers will be our first ever opponents in the Gwynedd Cup in a home match that kicks off at 1.30pm on Saturday 8 February. The Tigers were the opponents in our first ever competitive match back in August, and also our wettest ever competitive match last month. During the second period of our 7-0 Gwynedd League win on 11 January, there were unconfirmed reports that pairs of animals were being herded onto a large wooden boat on the Menai Strait.
Since our meeting last month Ogwen Tigers have only played once, losing 2-1 away to Bontnewydd on 25 January. The Tigers are currently 13th in the Gwynedd League, although only one point behind Llanystumdwy and Glantraeth.
Despite their lack of matches, the Tigers were busy in the transfer market last month and recruited a flurry of new signings. Arriva Bangor striker Reece Thompson was one of the first new recruits and was soon joined by Tomos Griffiths, who made the short trip down the hill from Mynydd Llandegai. Thompson and Griffiths were joined by versatile defender Iwan Jones and attacker Hayden Lloyd.
January was a high-scoring month for Bangor 1876 during which thirty goals were scored and only three conceded in a mere eight matches. This goalscoring form showed no signs of letting up during our first game of this month, an 11-0 win away to Llanystumdwy. Let's hope for plenty of goals and excitement this Saturday!
Please remember that we will be having another foodbank collection at this Saturday's game. Items can be dropped off at the clubhouse.
