Our manager Mel Jones recently shared his thoughts about our first ever season and being crowned Gwynedd League champions. Read his views here.
It’s a great achievement, especially when you think that twelve months ago the team hadn't even been formed. It’s a credit to the management, board, players and fans that we’ve been able to work together throughout the season. It’s been great the way local businesses and the local community in general have really got behind us
Our aim was to win the league, which we managed to achieve even if we couldn’t win it the way we would have liked to. It’s a shame we couldn’t continue in the cups as there were several we were still in, and we were particularly looking forward to the NWCFA Junior Cup semi-final. The Junior Cup has plenty of history and many great teams have won it over the years.
During the season, you could see the togetherness of the squad with the experienced players passing on their footballing knowledge to the younger players on and off the field. The younger players really benefited from this, and it helped to create a real sense of camaraderie within the squad. Now the big task will come when we find out what league we’re going to be in next year, as we face the prospect of taking on different challenges as we come up against different teams. I’m sure that the players will be very much up for it. I hope they’ll be keeping themselves fit over the close season in preparation for the intense pre-season training that’s in store.
Our fans have been absolutely outstanding, supporting us home and away in great spirits. They’ve been brilliant this term as we take the first step on our journey, and I hope they continue to support us in the same way next season.
