When was the first time you watched Bangor 1876?
The first time I watched Bangor 1876 was the home game at Treborth against Holywell Town where Bangor won by three goals to one. I remember wondering on the way to the game how many people there would be and how much support the new team would get. It’s safe to say that I was pleasantly surprised, it was so good to arrive at the ground and see so much support. Things have only got better since then and I’m looking forward to the future.
Do you have any particular highlights of the season so far?
One of the things that stands out for me this season is Johnno’s goal against Llanystumdwy in November. Like other Bangor supporters, we all know that goals by our captain are something of a rarity so this moment is one that I’m sure many of us will enjoy remembering. The other highlight I have is something more general really. During the season, I am have enjoyed travelling around the area and being able to see new grounds. It has been great to see some unique grounds. Llysfaen’s ground, the Banana Pitch, certainly stands out and I definitely haven’t seen a ground like it before.
As someone from Waunfawr, what sort of experience was it watching Bangor 1876 play against Waunfawr in January?
Very good question! I have to say that it was a really odd experience watching Waunfawr play against Bangor 1876. Last season I used to sometimes go to see Waunfawr on a Saturday when Bangor weren’t playing so I’ve followed them a bit before. The game was very for me personally! In a way I felt like a traitor but my heart was certainly with Bangor 1876.
We know that you also follow Chelsea. What player from Stamford Bridge would you like to sign for Bangor 1876 and why?
My favourite Chelsea player is Azpilicueta and I would be delighted to see him in a Bangor 1876 shirt, but having said that I’m not sure how easy it would be for him to get a place in the team. The defenders we have are very solid and work well together so I wouldn’t want to mix things up too much.
Is there one thing that you would like to change about football?
Right now it would be to be have some games! It is very disappointing that there won’t be any games for a long period as a result of the Coronavirus. Although this is very disappointing and furstrating for many people, it’s the right thing to do. It’s important for people to remember that although football is important, everyone’s health is more important. I hope that the period without football will not not be too long and I look forward to watching Bangor 1876 at Treborth again soon.
