Dylan Summers-Jones interview

Dylan Summers-Jones interview

Jonathan Ervine11 Apr 2020 - 07:30

"Football in Bangor means so much to the fans, so I will always give 110%"

We recently caught up with your top scorer so far this season, Dylan Summers-Jones. He's scored over forty goals on the pitch this season, and recently put ten past one of his team mates in a FIFA match on the PlayStation.

What was it that made you want to be part of Bangor 1876 this season?
The reason for the club forming and the mission we're on are the reasons I wanted to be a part of Bangor 1876. I know football in Bangor means so much to the fans, so I will always give 110% to get the best result possible, for us and them.

Are there any things in particular that you feel you've learnt this season?
I have learnt that the work you put in is what you will get out, this is why we as a team work hard in training ready for match days to get the best results. I have also learnt so much from everyone, the older players have been great at helping and encouraging all the younger lads, and I really appreciate every bit of help they give me to make me a better team player.

How does playing in the Gwynedd League this season compare to playing in academy football?
It’s harder because you are playing against men, who are stronger, and more physical. At 1876 we like to play football the way I have been brought up to play by passing and moving. That said, I know for a fact that as a team we won’t back down from a physical game.

What have been your highlights of the season so far?
My highlight this season so far is the first ever game of Bangor 1876 vs FC United of Manchester. The atmosphere there was unreal and it was an amazing day meeting the fans, and participating in such a big game in the history of 1876. Another highlight is the Welsh Cup game vs Penycae, where Matty Lock scored with the last kick of the game to take us to extra time, which then led to penalties and us winning the game in the shoot-out. These are days I’ll never forget!

You've scored over 40 goals so far this season. Which ones are your favourites?
Personally my favourite goals this season are my first goal in the game against Bontnewydd or both goals against Trearddur Bay. It is important to note that I could not have scored this many without the class players around me, credit goes to them also for supplying me with brilliant passes to get onto.

You recently won a players' FIFA tournament on the PlayStation. Who would you say are the best and worst players of FIFA at the club?
I’ve believe Cian Williams is the best player on Xbox. As for the worst it has to be Luke Steele, I played him on PlayStation and it’s best I don’t mention the score. Let’s just say I won by more than 10 goals.
