Thousands of football teams across the UK use Pitchero’s team websites, including a number of professional teams in the top level of English non-league football. In the website provider’s latest weekly rankings, we are in eighth position after having been in the top twenty teams for several weeks.
This is a notable achievement for a fan-owned team run by volunteers, especially as we’re currently competing in our first ever season. As many of you will know, we already have some big ambitions. We have shown this in the last few weeks by appointing UEFA pro-licence holder Iwan Williams as director of football and announcing plans to work with Bangor University to rapidly upgrade Treborth to FAW tier 3 status.
We are delighted to see our team’s fantastic form on the pitch being mirrored by some excellent results off the pitch. Like with so many other aspects of the club, what we have managed to do with our website and media activities is a consequence of a team of volunteers working together to highlight what the club is about.
Doing so well in the Pitchero rankings shows that people in our local community, and beyond, are really identifying with what we are about as a club. The fact that we are fan-owned and have a strong connection with our local community are incredibly important.
Engaging with the local community is a key element of what Bangor 1876 is all about. Within the last few weeks, we have featured articles about coaching opportunities for local children, the club’s regular foodbank collections, and 100 year-old local resident Ella Mackintosh becoming a member and co-owner. We will also have several more exciting community-focused announcements in the very near future.
