Hopefully the wider 1876 family are keeping well at this difficult time.

The Board held another “virtual” meeting this week to discuss issues that need addressing in the near future, specifically how we prepare for next season.

Firstly, the past few weeks saw us crowned Gwynedd League Champions. Considering that we were only formed 12 months ago, going through the league season with a 100% record is a remarkable achievement, and testimony to the hard work, determination and no little talent of our management, coaching and playing staff. Congratulations on a magnificent achievement!

As yet, we do not know when football will re-commence in North Wales or in which league we will be playing next year – but whichever it is, we will be prepared, and aim to have another successful campaign. Not surprisingly, therefore, much of our Board meeting was taken up with discussions around finance:

• Membership: We really want to build on our excellent membership base of over 670 club owners. For next season, we agreed that the membership cost will be £12, and additional £1 for anyone who wishes to become a shareholder. Details of how to re-register will be available very soon, and we are encouraging individuals to register by 1 July.

• Sponsorship: We recognised what a wonderful contribution our sponsors made to help establish us last season. We also appreciate how difficult it will be for many of these individuals and businesses in the post-Covid times. However, we hope that the existing sponsors will continue to support us as we strive for success at a higher level.

• Easyfundraising: At no cost to the you, if you register on the club’s Easy Fundraising page a percentage of your online purchase costs will come to the club. It’s an easy, no cost way of helping to generate funds. Here’s the link: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/bangor1876/?invite=3VL900&referral-campaign=s2s.

• New fundraising opportunities: We agreed to establish a small sub-committee to look at future fundraising opportunities, and hope that fans with an interest or expertise in raising funds will come forward to offer their support. If you would like to help the club with its fundraising activities, please contact one of the Board. We would really appreciate your backing to create a comprehensive fundraising strategy that will continue to keep us on a sound financial footing, and will ensure that any investment is used for the good of the club.

1876: For the fans by the fans
